Testing for Mold & Supporting Detox – What You Can Do

How Can You Test for Mold in Your Environment?

1. Agar Plates
A simple and affordable method. Place petri dishes with nutrient-rich agar in areas you frequent (home, car, office). Mold spores will grow into visible colonies that can be analyzed for species and severity.

2. ERMI Testing
The Environmental Relative Moldiness Index is a DNA-based test that analyzes 36 different types of mold from household dust. It’s more expensive but provides detailed information about indoor mold exposure.

Lab Testing for Your Body

1. Organic Acid Test (OAT)
Analyzes urine to assess 70+ metabolic markers including detoxification, oxidative stress, and mold-related toxins like citramalic and tartaric acid.

2. Mycotoxin Testing
A urine-based test (offered by labs like Mosaic Diagnostics) that detects specific mycotoxins and their levels. This test can help guide personalized treatment.
